Time for a check up : College Edition!

With there being only a few weeks left until I move back into college, I just wanted to reflect and share with you all how my freshman year went. Pictured above is my dorm from last year, as many of you saw on my instagram. I stayed in a triple with two other ladies, Ashley and Lily. It was honestly fun in the triple, I don't really see why people don't like triples, it felt like a never-ending sleepover!

I moved in before my roommates because I was a part of a program called Thrive! Thrive was designed to help first generational minority students settle into the college life. I am grateful for that opportunity because it helped me get use to what I was in for before it actually started. I learned a few tips provided by professors to help ensure success in my classes, made friends, and found my way around the campus.

Then classes started, first semester went by extremely fast. I had English, Psychology, and a Roadmap class which was specific to my school. The classes were a breeze except for Psychology. Oh, and not to mention I also had a job on campus I worked for Digital Charlotte , where I was able to curate and produce my own stores regarding digital inclusion around Charlotte! I will link the site above and you can search my name and see my stories.

Ashley and I , shared the same major and we are both a Sagittarius so as you can imagine we had a lot of things in common we celebrated her birthday by going to the club. I think we went to Suite it was our first time at a club and we had fun.

Second semester was definitely a breeze, I got straight A's, made the Dean's list, and  made more friends. I truly believe college will be a few of the best years of my life and I can't wait to start sophomore year. To all the approaching freshman don't take life too seriously here! Focus on your classes and grades but try to have fun as well because before you know it you'll be graduating and wishing you had made more memories.

TaylorMade....Pandemic

Whew, Chyyy!  It's been a minute y'all, I mean honestly, it's been a minute. The last time I was sitting in front of my computer typing away for my blog was in 2019 and I was on my way to starting my sophomore year in college. Now it's 2020, and I am sitting on my couch after working a long shift from home. Yeah, I said it working from home, it's a long story and I will get there! But first, I want to check in with you, how are you, now I don't mean how are you, I mean how ARE you. I felt the need to emphasize that because I think so many of us when asked that question answer with "ok" before our brains can even register the intensity of the question. So please give it some thought and comment down below your answer. I will be checking so don't just skip over it.  I have really been missing the feeling of just talking to you all. I truly believe there is something about just typing your thoughts and feelings and posting it for the world to see that...

Where is David?

Hey you guys, it has been a while since we last talked. I feel like the last time I wrote was maybe mid February, maybe, maybe not. To catch you up SUMMER17' is officially about to kick in, with my last week of junior year flying by. I was walking out of the doors that lead to the bus lot today when I started to think about the summer. How this whole year I was saying "Summer 17' will be mine" but, funny thing is I said the same thing last year and the year be for that, and the one before that, and so on. I mean you get the idea right? Yeah, pretty sure you do. I began thinking why I haven't experienced a summer worthwhile yet. You know like the ones in the movies where the girl typically meets a guy who helps her out of her comfort zone? If you didn't this is pretty much a quote on quote description of ENDLESS LOVE which was the movie of the summer last year. So, yes I am pretty much comparing myself to a fictional character in a book, but only because w...

How To Remember 2019 The Right Way.

Yesterday, I was scrolling on Instagram like usual and came across a post by my preacher Pastor Steven Furtick (shoutout to Elevation Church, my second home). He posted a clip from a previous sermon that was talking about how you can start the new year off right. The 60-second clip was about how to properly remember the new year right. I really enjoyed this clip because it was during this time that I was creating a list of goals that I wanted to accomplish for the new year, something that I do traditionally every year, and every year I struggle with the same problem of repeating goals because I never complete them. I will list some of those reoccurring goals below. 1. Read more. 2. Work out more. 3. Go out more with your friends. And these are goals that more of us tend to include in our new year's resolutions. While most people may read these and go ..." there doesn't seem to be a problem to me" , I do and I will tell you what it is. When I first created ...
