How I learned to make appropriate goals for myself.

It's January. You know what that means, for some reason January seems to be the time when people ideally make up a list of goals in which they want to accomplish. For some odd reason we and yes I said we including myself. I will admit to making goals that I have no intention on following through with. Why do we do that? Why do we feel the need to make goals that aren't ideal for us? Is it because we see others do it and we just want to fit in? Well I don't know about you but I am tired of reading past journal entries and reading the same things I want or feel the need to change.
This year I decided to change this pattern. I made goals that I thought I could foresee myself accomplishing throughout the year. For instance, I have wanted to see an increase in my active life for a while now. So, the goal I put into place is to workout 3x a week but change it up. By changing it up I mean the first day would be cardio, the next aerobic, and the last would be weights. My next goal is to eat healthier meaning not to eat sweets every day. Normally I would say I'm limiting to strictly only salad but I realized that I can't just take out a heavy chunk of something my diet is heavily attached to. Some people can completely take carbs out of their diets or meats but that's not ideal. I have begun to realize that along as I eat properly and maintain a good vegetable intake and stay active I can do pretty much whatever I want. As long as my heart rate is increased then I am burning calories. My final goal is to get better with pampering myself with facials, bubble baths, manicures and pedicures. I find that when you look good you feel good.
You see the goals I set for myself seem to be everyday things for many people but it's not too common for me. The key is to set goals that are not too far to reach. How do you ensure that the goals are not out of your reach? You need to deeply desire the goal, visualize yourself accomplishing the goal, make a plan for the path you need to follow to accomplish the goal, commit to achieving the goal by writing it down plenty of times, establish times for checking your progress in your calendar system, and review your overall progress regularly.
With this new insight I have I intend to look at my reflection of this year as 2018 comes and see my progress and I hope you will too.

TaylorMade....Pandemic

Whew, Chyyy!  It's been a minute y'all, I mean honestly, it's been a minute. The last time I was sitting in front of my computer typing away for my blog was in 2019 and I was on my way to starting my sophomore year in college. Now it's 2020, and I am sitting on my couch after working a long shift from home. Yeah, I said it working from home, it's a long story and I will get there! But first, I want to check in with you, how are you, now I don't mean how are you, I mean how ARE you. I felt the need to emphasize that because I think so many of us when asked that question answer with "ok" before our brains can even register the intensity of the question. So please give it some thought and comment down below your answer. I will be checking so don't just skip over it.  I have really been missing the feeling of just talking to you all. I truly believe there is something about just typing your thoughts and feelings and posting it for the world to see that...

Where is David?

Hey you guys, it has been a while since we last talked. I feel like the last time I wrote was maybe mid February, maybe, maybe not. To catch you up SUMMER17' is officially about to kick in, with my last week of junior year flying by. I was walking out of the doors that lead to the bus lot today when I started to think about the summer. How this whole year I was saying "Summer 17' will be mine" but, funny thing is I said the same thing last year and the year be for that, and the one before that, and so on. I mean you get the idea right? Yeah, pretty sure you do. I began thinking why I haven't experienced a summer worthwhile yet. You know like the ones in the movies where the girl typically meets a guy who helps her out of her comfort zone? If you didn't this is pretty much a quote on quote description of ENDLESS LOVE which was the movie of the summer last year. So, yes I am pretty much comparing myself to a fictional character in a book, but only because w...

How To Remember 2019 The Right Way.

Yesterday, I was scrolling on Instagram like usual and came across a post by my preacher Pastor Steven Furtick (shoutout to Elevation Church, my second home). He posted a clip from a previous sermon that was talking about how you can start the new year off right. The 60-second clip was about how to properly remember the new year right. I really enjoyed this clip because it was during this time that I was creating a list of goals that I wanted to accomplish for the new year, something that I do traditionally every year, and every year I struggle with the same problem of repeating goals because I never complete them. I will list some of those reoccurring goals below. 1. Read more. 2. Work out more. 3. Go out more with your friends. And these are goals that more of us tend to include in our new year's resolutions. While most people may read these and go ..." there doesn't seem to be a problem to me" , I do and I will tell you what it is. When I first created ...
